Steady Progress

So the past week has brought more steady progress on the new house.  Check out the pictures below.  Sorry a few are not as stratight as I wanted, but I was trying to hold the Team Leader's leash and take pictures.  It was definitely not my best idea.

The Lost Art of Gardening

Gardening is one of those hobbies that sounds good to me until I actually have to take care of and water the plants everyday.  Never mind having to wait months for something to grow.  Patience is definitely not my strong point.  So every year I am amazed when Grandpa George, in the middle of the back row below, who is 90-plus-years-old has a garden that could feed a small army.

Grandpa George, The Gardener

To me this looks like ovegrown weeds, but clearly I do not have gardening vision.

I recognize these as tomato plants, but again my commitment issues flare up at just the sight.

These plants produced a ton of tomatoes despite the lack of rain.  Guess George holds the secret!
Then I see this and my eyes light up thinking about all of the wonderful dishes that will taste so much better with these homegrown tomatoes.

Look closely - can you tell what this is going to be?

A waternelon that was planted from the seeds of a watermelon from last year.  Simply amazing!

Every year he says he is not going to plant a garden, and every year he does, and then it produces such a plentiful harvest.  We are so lucky to have such a green thumb in the family!

Back from Vacation

So it appears that things moved quickly this past week and the house underwent MAJOR changes outside!  When we went on Saturday the brick and stone crew was finishing up so I did not get to ask to see their vacation pictures.  Maybe when they come back to work on the fireplace, then I can take a look at the pics and ask them for their tips on seeking out last minute travel deals.  Hoping for no more delays, but not holding my breath on that one.  Still debating how I feel about the brick.

Baby Steps and Delays

So last week was 'supposed' to be the start of the transformation inside and out.  Obviously our Construction Manager, Cody, being around is crucial because the workmen went on mental vacation when he went on physcial vacation for a week.  The sheetrock team showed up last Thursday to discover the insulation, which is a fairly critical step in most people's opinion, had not been done.  I guess the brick crew got a really good last minute travel deal because they are no where to be found, even though they were supposed to start Thursday, as well.  Maybe they will share their vacation photos when they return.

Hello Suburbia

Progress on the house....

Welcome

Ok so here goes... Welcome to my blog.  This is very much a work in progress and you will see many changes as I learn how to create everything.  I am hoping this will be a place to check out the progress of the new house, or grab a recipe as I post them and take pics.  Wish me luck, because I am going to need a lot of it.
